9.220 Student Vacation During School Time
The purpose of this policy is to affirm the Board's belief that regular student attendance is important, and to convey its concern for the educational consequences of an extended absence.

9.230 Student Fees
The intent of the Board of Education is to provide required educational programs and educational resources to students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) free of charge. It is also the Board’s intent to provide students with enriched or additional learning opportunities that might not otherwise be available. The BC Supreme Court ruling of October 2006, permits the Board to charge fees for materials, supplies, equipment and instruments not considered “educational resource materials.”
The purpose of this policy is to clarify when, and for what purpose, fees and deposits may be charged, and to ensure that fees and deposits do not become a barrier to participation in activities or programs because of financial hardship. When charging fees, the intent is to assist in covering costs.
